Just a Test

25 January 2011

So, I did a free write today to see how fast I can actually expect to write.  I chose to just free write to save myself the pressure of actually writing for this project, although I did end up writing a couple of scenes with my characters – we’ll see if they make it into the final draft.  Conclusion:  I can do about 1000 words an hour if I am really just writing.  Technically I should be able to bust this thing out in just 2 hours a day, but i will set myself at least 4-5 hours a day just in case.  This thing is looking more and more doable by the minute.  And Scrivener has a setting where if you give it a projected word count, it will let you know when you’re there, so now I won’t be distracted by constantly checking my word count… right?

I have a week before I officially start… and SO much to do before then.

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.”

So are you 100% prepared?? Because I will absolutely be that guy posting on here when you decide to blow it off and eat twinkies in bed rather than write the next great chapter.

I would say I’m 70% prepared, but I still have until wednesday for that other 25% (I only expect to be 95% prepared – something’s gotta give, right?). Today is outline day.
