Day 20: 31,000-or-so words
Had a little break, I have. This week: Valentine’s day, aka my favorite holiday, followed by the triumphant return of the brother, followed by a somewhat impromptu visit by the mother, followed by yesterday, aka the best day ever, in which I lounged around in the sun all day, reading, watching tv, spinning, and, yes, writing, followed by a viewing of a basketball game during which wings were consumed and the right team won.
So I may not be on target, but I’m pretty damn close. I may not have done my writing for the day, but I’m not worried about it. 60,000 words by the 4th? Yeah, I’m still feelin’ it.
Hi Emily–
Wow, you have been powering away here. It’s interesting to be reading the blog entries backwards at the same time that I’m reading the novel MSS forwards.
I will be sending suggestions on both but one suggestion is yes, I think you should consider posting more excerpts from the novel MSS, maybe hooking in some online readers.
OK, more soon and Write On– ELizabeth
So you are now on the 10 day homestretch– is the end in sight??
Would you ever consider giving yourself an extension if not?
Will be curious to see these final days and how it all plays out; I am curious too if you ‘know the end’ or are hoping adrenalin and inspiration will strike en route…
Go, Emily!
Although I am of course discovering many plot points along the way that I hadn’t quite expected, I had the skeleton of the thing mapped out and wrote (most of) the last chapter after I had 6,000 words or so. I don’t think I will quite finish, and as I took some time off this month to work on writing, I may not quite give myself an extension, but I certainly intend to finish writing it, if not quite at the speed I started – maybe though, if I can squeeze it in.
